About
Ann Gordon is a New York/Joshua Tree based artist and designer whose work moves between painting, clothing and object-making. Originally trained as a painter at Detroit’s College for Creative Studies, her early work focused on paintings of Detroit’s architecture and has since evolved toward landscape, material exploration and wearable forms.
Working outside traditional art-world structures, her practice is driven by process, limitation and repetition — making things by hand, often late at night, with whatever is available. Through painting and Tryharder Wear, Gordon continues an ongoing practice centered on experimentation, independence and the belief that making itself is the point.
Her personal work has been profiled by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Interview Magazine, among others. Professionally, she leads creative direction for global brands across fashion, home and retail, working with executive and creative teams to shape brand identity and future direction.
When not painting or sewing, she can usually be found watering plants, cooking, hiking, exploring museums, watching comedy, defending her love of Taco Bell and firmly avoiding blue foods and chewing gum.
